Downloadable Media


Hoopla is a collection of movies, television programs, music, and audiobooks available to Wilmette and Kenilworth cardholders. Media is either streamed through a PC or Mac computer or downloaded to a smartphone or tablet using the Hoopla app.

Limit: Ten items per month.

Music may be checked out for seven days;

Movies/TV may be checked out for three days.

Audiobooks may be checked out for 21 days.

Getting Started with Hoopla


1. Download the free hoopla app from your device’s app store.hoopla

2. New users: Sign up with an email address, password and WPL library card number. No PIN required. Returning users: Login with your e-mail address and password.

3. Browse through movie and music titles. To see the menu, swipe left to right or touch the menu icon in the top left corner. Use the search box to find a specific title.

4. Tap on an item and click Borrow.

5. The item will be available in Your Account on the menu page.

PC or Mac Computer

3. Browse through movie and music titles. Use the search box to find a specific title.

4. Select an item and click Borrow.

5. The item will be available under the My Titles menu at the top of the page.

The Library offers Nooks and iPads for residents of Wilmette and Kenilworth

Nooks may be checked out for three weeks and iPads may be checked out for two weeks.  The devices come pre-loaded with many books.  If the devices are all checked out, you may place a hold on the device and you will be notified when it becomes available for you.  The links below will take you to the devices as they are listed in the catalog.  From here you may see which books are loaded on the devices and whether a device is available for checkout.

What is a Mobile Application?

Also called mobile apps, it is a term used to describe Internet applications that run on smartphones and other mobile devices. Mobile applications usually help users by connecting them to Internet services more commonly accessed on desktop or notebook computers, or help them by making it easier to use the Internet on their portable devices.


WPL's app is available for iOS, Android, Kindle, and many other devices! Check your account, search for items, view the calendar, and download E-books and E-audiobooks with ease.

Downloadable Magazines


Zinio is a digital publishing company that distributes digital editions of printed publications, including magazines. Wilmette & Kenilworth residents who set up an account have access to over 90 different magazines downloadable to their computer, tablet, or smartphone.
