  • Drop-In Art Studio

    We're opening our closets and emptying our drawers so that you can come on by and make cool crafts with recycled materials. You never know what you'll find, but it's sure to be fun! For all ages.

  • Preschool Science Explorers: Sound

    When: Monday, December 29, 2014 - 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Investigate the science of sound through stories, songs, and hands-on exploration. Ages 3-5 with an adult. Registration starts December 15 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents; December 22 for nonresidents.

  • School's Out Movie

    When: Monday, December 29, 2014 - 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    A highly intelligent canine and his adopted son travel though time, endeavoring to fix a time rift of their own making. Snacks will be served. Rated PG.

  • Noon Year's Eve Celebration

    Where: Youth Program Room

    Have your fun before the adults do. Ring in 2015 with us here at the Library -- without staying up past bedtime! Ages 4-7. Registration starts December 16 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, December 23 for nonresidents.

    Where: Auditorium

    Learn the differences and similarities between reptiles and amphibians, and meet over 20 live animals. You can stay after to get your picture taken with them, so be sure to bring your camera. For all ages. Free ticket required. Tickets available at the Youth Desk the day of the performance.

    Applaud the youth members of the Wilmette Park District Improv Troupe as they perform original sketch comedy, including audience participation.

  • Youth Chess Drop-In

    When: Sunday, January 11, 2015 - 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Want to play chess with other kids who love the game? Drop by for informal, fun competition supervised by parent volunteers. Bring chess sets and pieces, if possible. All levels of players are welcome, but prior knowledge of the pieces and how they move is helpful. Space is limited to the first 24 players to arrive.

  • K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore

    When: Wednesday, January 14, 2015 - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Where: Youth Department

    Read some of your favorite stories to a trained therapy dog. Wilmette and Kenilworth residents only, sign up for one 15-minute slot for January OR February beginning December 30. Grades 1-5. K-9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore is a Therapy Dogs International Children Reading to Dogs Program.

  • ScreenBreak Challenge Drawing Workshop

    Join representatives from the Alliance for Early Childhood and create original art for the ScreenBreak Drawing Contest. Winning entries will be included in the official ScreenBreak materials! Entries are due at 5:00 on Monday, January 19. All ages.

    Kick-start African-American History Month with this explosive demonstration of drumming, dance, and acrobatics. All ages.
    Free ticket required. Tickets are available in the Youth Services Department on the day of the program on a first-come, first-served, basis. Limit 8 tickets per family.
