Who are the Friends?

We are a group of community members who love the library.  Our goal is to support meaningful library programming.

  • Books Down Under (BDU) is our biggest project with more than 60 dedicated volunteers who work many hours to sift, sort, and shelve thousands of books every year. Funds from the sale of these books directly benefit library patrons by supporting programming.
  • In addition to funds raised through BDU, FOL annual membership also directly supports library patrons and programming.
  • In the past, Friends funded One Book, Everybody Reads, Who Are We? Interactive Children's Art Exhibit, Children's Summer Reading Club, Books for Babies, Greener Choices, Genealogy Series, Adult Art Show, Kids Art Show, Book discussion groups, The Shakespeare Project, and musical performances, among other activities and events.
  • Volunteers donate their time to assist the library in a variety of activities, including working at BDU, greeting people at Auditorium events, assisting with youth services events, or assisting at One Book Everybody Reads. If you'd like to get involved, fill out a volunteer form and return it to BDU: Bookstore Volunteer Form
