Special NeedsSensory-Friendly Events for Kids with Special Needs

We welcome all children who meet program guidelines to our events. However, we understand that some kids have special needs that make attending certain programs challenging.

Listed below are sensory-friendly movie screenings and encounters with outside performers. Also listed are programs that, while not designed specifically for kids with special needs, may have particular appeal.

Sensory-Friendly Events

  • Jigglejam
    When: Saturday, September 10, 2016 - 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM
    Where: Auditorium

    Get ready to sing and dance at this funtastically interactive show including puppets, bubbles, and instruments for you to play! All ages. Free ticket required. Tickets are available in the Youth Services Department on the day of the program on a first-come, first-served basis. Limit 8 tickets per family.
  • Pajama Storytime
    When: Wednesday, September 21, 2016 - 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Come in your PJs and bring your favorite blankie or lovie for bedtime stories, songs, and a craft. Ages 3 and up.
  • Fall StoryWalk
    When: Monday, September 26, 2016 - 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM
    Where: Vattmann Park

    Enjoy the outdoors, read our new fall story with your librarians, and finish up with a treat. Can't make it today? Don't worry! Our StoryWalk will stay up throughout the fall. Rain date: Thursday, September 29.
