tweensThe Wilmette Public Library offers programs for kids in grades 5–8. The Kids’ Library Council meets regularly to do art, technology, and book-related activities and also to plan events and spaces for the Library. We also offer technology programs and occasional special interest activities.

  • Kids' Library Council
    When: Monday, July 13, 2015 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Make important decisions about the look of WPL's new junior high area! Also, make bristlebots, robots assembled from toothbrushes, pager motors, and batteries. Snacks will be served. Grades 5-8. Registration starts June 29 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 6 for nonresidents.
  • Fun with Cartoons, with Gene Myers (Gr. 5-8)
    When: Tuesday, July 14, 2015 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Come to a hands-on class conducted by Myers, a professional cartoonist whose work has appeared in Family Circle, Reader's Digest, McCall's, and many other publications. Grades 5-8. Registration starts June 30 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 7 for nonresidents.
  • PicoBoards with Scratch
    When: Wednesday, July 15, 2015 - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Do you like to do digital media design with Scratch? You'll like it even more when you use a PicoBoard! Using PicoBoards, hardware that connects Scratch projects to the real world, we'll experiment with sound and light. Grades 5-8. Registration starts July 1 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, July 8 for nonresidents.
