tweensThe Wilmette Public Library offers programs for kids in grades 5–8. The Kids’ Library Council meets regularly to do art, technology, and book-related activities and also to plan events and spaces for the Library. We also offer technology programs and occasional special interest activities.

  • Halloween Window Decorations
    When: Friday, September 30, 2016 - 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Design and cut Halloween decorations for your windows or walls. Using our vinyl cutter and special software, you'll make cobwebs, jack o'lanterns, or ghosts to stick wherever scaring is required. Grades 5-8. Registration starts September 16 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, September 19 for nonresidents.

  • Kids' Library Council
    When: Monday, October 10, 2016 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Do you love the Library? Do you have lots of ideas to make it even better? Join us for a meeting of our Kids' Library Council to do fun activities and plan library spaces and programs for kids in 5th to 8th grades. This month, make stop-motion animation and time-lapse videos using the recently remodeled library's new toys and installations. Grades 5-8. Registration starts September 26 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, October 3 for nonresidents.
  • Halloween Makeup
    When: Monday, October 24, 2016 - 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Make your Halloween costume fabulously scary with makeup! Learn to apply Halloween makeup—both gory and gorgeous—with professional makeup artist Allison Halver. She'll demonstrate how to make wounds and prosthetic applications and offer tips on how to apply Halloween makeup on your own. Participants will be able to try on some of the makeup. Please note that we will be working with latex. Grades 5-8. Registration starts October 10 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, October 17 for nonresidents.
