There are lots of in-Library activies and events happening in and around the Teen Room. Check back for upcoming info on reading lists, movies, books, and all that is sprouting from the Teen Room (don't forget to check the Teen Events page).

Teen Read Week: Read for the Fun of It!

During the week of October 12-18, we encourage teens to read for pleasure, even with their busy academic and social calendars.  In celebration of the week, we will be holding events and games around the Library and will reward teens for participating.

DIY eDevice Cover Class

     Come, upcycle and make your own electronic device cover out of old books (that were to be recycled)!  Click here for an example; registration is required.  October 15 from 4-5:00 in the Teen Room.

Get Caught Reading at the Library

     If a Librarian sees a teen reading for fun around the Teen Room or in the stacks, they'll get a prize!

Read for Pleasure at the Rock House Coffee House!

     During the week of October 12-18, mention Teen Read Week to a cashier at the Rock House at 1150 Central Ave. to receive a discount as a reward for reading for pleasure at a local coffee shop.  *This offer is for teens only, please.

Guess the Book in the Jar!

     Guess the shredded book in the jar in the Teen Room and win the Grand Prize!

     Reading Lists

          YALSA Alex Awards-Written for and by adults, with special appeal to Teens

          Printz Award Winners-Excellence in young adult literature

          Banned Books-The most frequently banned or challenged books



Volunteers! We want you!  

Opportunities include but are not limited to:

-Help create reading lists 

-Writing book reviews

-Creating displays

-Helping work events within the Library

-Coming to the monthly Teen Advisory Board meetings 

-Help prepare for Summer and Winter reading clubs
